Booking Through Thursday: Libraries

From BTT 21 August 2008

What is your earliest memory of a library? Who took you? Do you have you any funny/odd memories of the library?

How very strange that my last post (see here) happened to be about not being a member of a library as a child.

I don’t actually remember my first trip to a library and neither do I remember the first book I borrowed, however I do make use of 2 or 3 local libraries now and my latest visit was yesterday when I borrowed:

The Outcast by Sadie Jones

Mummy’s Witness by Gayle Sanders

Virus by Sarah Langan

Fleshmarket Close by Ian Rankin

The Ian Rankin book is for the oh to read as I’ve tried the Rebus books but have found they are just not for me.

I have always fancied working in a library, but as I don’t I can’t say I’ve had many funny experiences there. Mostly people in libraries appear to all exist in their own little world and I can’t say I’ve struck up many conversations whilst visiting one except for with a friend who works at one. Maybe I should ask her if she has any funny tales to tell.
